Strongmen

A strongman or other comparable circus performers who displayed strength were referred to as strongmen in the 19th century. Competitions for strongmen, usually referred to as strength athletics, have gained prominence more lately. The winner of these competitions is the one who has the greatest tally across all events. These competitions currently consist of a number of events in which contestants must move the heaviest weights feasible.


Building general strength in the weight room and practicing with competition implements are both essential components of strongman training. The entire body must be strengthened in the gym, especially with variations of the squat, deadlift, and overhead press. Cardiovascular fitness and explosive power, which are produced through weightlifting-style lifts, are also significant. Additionally, grip power needs to be improved.

A strongman training plan involves equipment that is not generally seen at a gym, even if you can perform general strength training at a typical gym. A strongman gym or a custom-made piece of equipment may be required for a strongman tournament. These tools include an automobile, an Atlas Stone, a Log (Log Press), Farmers Walk Bars, a Yoke (Yoke Walk), and a Keg (Keg Toss).


A rigorous diet program is an additional component of a strongman's training. Around 8,000–10,000 calories per day would be required for the largest strongman competitors.


Strongman competitors are renowned as the all-time least healthy athletes. Strongmen had substantial amounts of adipose tissue in proportion to their big body mass, which increased their chance of developing non-communicable diseases. Furthermore, using anabolic steroids may increase the risk of sickness.
