-Ronnie Coleman
Ronnie Dean Coleman, the 8-time Mr. Olympia, was an American bodybuilding legend who retired in 2007 due to severe injuries. He was nicknamed "The King" and is widely considered the greatest bodybuilder in Olympia history and began the mass monster era of bodybuilding.
Ronnie started his career with a natural start. He started bodybuilding at the age of 24, and for the first six years of his career he didn't use any steroids. Due to his monster genetics, Ronnie had a huge physique that was full of muscles and had an amazingly low percentage of body fat.
Even though Ronnie's physique was admirable, he still lost in competitions to other enhanced bodybuilders (steroids users). For that reason, he started taking steroids himself and shocked the whole world by doing what was beyond imaginable. In total, Ronnie earned a total of eight consecutive Mr. Olympia victories in-between 1998 and 2005. Not only did he win the title of Mr. Olympia eight times, he also won the Arnold Classic (a bodybuilding competition created by Arnold Schwarzenegger) title in 2001.
Due to Ronnie's immense muscle mass, he used to weigh 315–330 pounds (143–150 kg). He also has an above-average height of 180 cm, which is considered an advantage in bodybuilding. Because of Ronnie's unique genetics, he competed in both bodybuilding and strength competitions, earning him a total of 26 professional titles throughout his career.
Coleman's title as Mr. Olympia came to an end when his successor, Jay Cutler, defeated him in 2006. Ronnie's rival, Jay Cutler, competed with him for several years and was known as his rival. Ronnie's physique was continuously changing for the worse in that period of time. His injuries were becoming more and more severe due to his super heavy lifting. He experienced many herniated disks that led him to undergo 13 surgeries in order to reverse the damage caused to his back and neck. He had to quit bodybuilding because of his loss of size, mobility, health, passion and other sad reasons.
Ronnie Coleman's name will never be forgotten. He motivated millions of people and will always be regarded as a bodybuilding legend. His phrases are commonly used by gym rats and social media influencers. He loved screaming out "YEAH BUDDY!" and "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY!" when he lifted heavy weights.
