American bodybuilder Kenneth "Flex" Wheeler, born on August 23, 1965, is now retired from the IFBB. Arnold Schwarzenegger once referred to him as one of the greatest bodybuilders he had ever seen after he won the Arnold Classic a then-record four times. According to what Ronnie "The King" Coleman said, Flex was the hardest bodybuilder he ever competed against.

Wheeler had a brief career as a police officer before he decided to devote all of his time to becoming a professional bodybuilder. Although he entered competitions for the first time in 1983, it wasn't until 1989 that he won the NPC Mr. California Championships. He came in second place at the 1993 Mr. Olympia, missing out on a victory (something he was to repeat in 1998 and 1999). He has won the Arnold Classic four times, the South Beach Pro Invitational five times, the Night of Champions once, and the Hungarian Grand Prix once. He has also won the Ironman Pro five times.

Wheeler was known for being conceited and overconfident, but he explained that this was a result of him trying to make up for his introversion and insecurity as a child and young adult. He was involved in an automobile accident that almost killed him in 1994 and might have permanently paralyzed him. He relapsed into depression and had to restart his training, returning to the top of bodybuilding quite quickly. In 1999, Wheeler received a diagnosis of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a form of kidney disease. Despite public speculation regarding the cause of the failure, Wheeler stated that the condition is genetic, but drug use probably accelerated its onset. Wheeler announced his retirement from competitive bodybuilding in 2000, but he continued to compete until 2003.

In the Classic Physique division of the 2017 Mr. Olympia, Flex made a comeback and placed 15th.
